What a great night at the New Years Eve Parti Noson Galan @ Neuadd Ogwen Bethesda! Banda Bacana shared the stage with Turnstone and DJ Fflyffilyfbybl, supported by a wonderful Bethesda crowd with their dancing shoes on. Big thanks to Dilwyn and all the staff at Neuadd Ogwen for all their hard work. And a special mention to Jon Lawrence for doing the PA, we’ve had some really good feedback on the sound.
Well done to everyone who made it to the boxing night regular at the Vic (…no… not that one) despite the horrendous weather and flooding. For those that missed the Jukes gig – and that includes one of the musicians stranded in Colwyn Bay – you may want cheer yourself up by coming to another wet and windy corner of Wales to see some of the Jukes musicians playing in the equally funky Banda Bacana. Polishing our brass, limbering up our vocal chords and yanking up the groove we’ve been lucky to play at some great local events this summer and some further afield. Thanks to Moel Siabod Cafe for inviting us back to another stomping North Wales reception, and to Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and the delightful Beathearder festival. Also in July we played at the Food Slam in Menai Bridge where we sampled some wonderful local grub and summer fizz!

Well what a summer it’s been for the Bacana crew, and what an action packed foray of gigs we have to report back too! Since our last post advertising the amazing Gwyl Arall, we can now tick “play in a Castle” off our “to do” list, and, we not only played in a Castle but got to share the bill with some of Wales’ finest musicians, Yr Ods, Lleuwen Steffan and the one and only Geraint Jarman. We arrive for sound check around 5ish and then head over to Oren for some of Gert’s fine cuisine to provide us with sustenance for the gig. We then head back to the Castle, which is filling up with camping chairs and bottles of cava; these guys look set for a party! They were a tough crowd to get up and dance but seemed to be enjoying in none the less, Continue reading
