A Song Inspired by North Walian Carnivals

The song Carnival was inspired by my time as a member of Samba Bangor, the local Samba band. It was my first two years living in Wales. I had started a new job and there was lots of big changes. Every Saturday I drove over to Bangor and spent the afternoon in the Quaker meeting house with like-minded folk playing different Samba rhythms, drinking tea and eating chips. I was very lucky to meet such lovely welcoming people.

Dot. in Bethesda

After the disappointment of the red tape delays getting Abu Baga over from Paris, we’re delighted that Dot. has stepped in. Now living in Bangor and studying Music and Creative Writing at the uni, Aditi Saigal or Dot. is an Indian indie musician with a loyal YouTube following. See this video of her debut tour in India with the audience singing along… we’re really excited for the concert in Neuadd Ogwen Bethesda on 16 June!

Abou Baga – East African Singer-Songwriter Plays North Wales

Unfortunately we’ve had to postpone the Abu Baga gig, we hope he can come over soon. However the show must go on! Banda Bacana will play, with special guest Dot – same time same place! Neuadd Ogwen on 16th June.

Abou Baga began his musical journey on the Comoro Islands off the coast of East Africa, where he sang and played traditional Swahili music. Since 2005 he has been living in Paris where he is a favourite on the African music scene, which is the best outside Africa, bringing together people from all over that continent. Continue reading
