Sadly Debademba have had to cancel their tour because of illness but Neuadd Ogwen & Owen’s Gigs are carrying on with the evening as a Nepal benefit. The line-up is:
Bringing some West African sunshine to Snowdonia, Debademba are guitarist Abdoulaye Traore and singer Mohamed Diaby. Playing their unique mix of Ethiopian sounds, Afro-funk, African salsa and blues with Spainish and Arabic influence.
The gig will be held at Neuadd Ogwen, Bethesda Supported by DJ Flyffi Lyf Bybl & BandaBacana
We spent a productive weekend in Bryn Derwen Studio in the hands of the talented and lovely John Lawrence. We’ve got 15 rough tracks to play with. Next steps to be decided tonight in practice, but will include additional vocal harmonies, horns, percussion and hopefully some accordian.

Well that was fun! We rocked down the A55 to Telfords Warehouse in Chester to play to a crowd of eager people 🙂 if you’ve not been there before it’s well worth a visit, set on the canal it’s a very picturesque setting

Well what a summer it’s been for the Bacana crew, and what an action packed foray of gigs we have to report back too! Since our last post advertising the amazing Gwyl Arall, we can now tick “play in a Castle” off our “to do” list, and, we not only played in a Castle but got to share the bill with some of Wales’ finest musicians, Yr Ods, Lleuwen Steffan and the one and only Geraint Jarman. We arrive for sound check around 5ish and then head over to Oren for some of Gert’s fine cuisine to provide us with sustenance for the gig. We then head back to the Castle, which is filling up with camping chairs and bottles of cava; these guys look set for a party!
